1. Who We Are

SnoutHood is a free, non-commercial pet social network run as a personal hobby project, based in the Netherlands. This policy explains how we handle your personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What Data We Collect

When you use SnoutHood, we collect the following:

Account data: email address, full name, profile photo
Pet data: pet names, species, photos you add to your profile
Content: posts, captions, hashtags, stories, comments, reactions
Messages: private messages sent between users
Location: city or area you optionally provide
Usage data: which pages you visit (no third-party analytics)

3. Why We Collect It

We use your data only to operate the platform — to show your profile, let you post, connect with other users, and use the pet-sitting features. We do not sell your data, run adverts, or use it for any commercial purpose.

4. Who Sees Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, our database and authentication provider, and Cloudinary, which hosts photos and videos you upload. Both process data on our behalf and are GDPR-compliant. We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties.

5. How Long We Keep It

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our database. Some content (e.g. posts you shared) may remain visible until manually deleted.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

As an EU resident you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and data ("right to be forgotten")
Export your data in a portable format
Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time

7. Cookies

SnoutHood uses a session cookie solely to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Media content may be served via Cloudinary, which may set its own technical cookies.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of SnoutHood after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
